Flat Bottom Drag

   Flat Bottom Drag

Flat Bottom drag conveyors are available in two general types; Standard and Heavy Duty. Both types are "En-Masse" style conveyors because the bed depth of the materials can be quite a bit deeper than the height of the flights. Naturally, both types are available from Goodman Conveyor Company.

The Standard style is most often utilized when handling very free materials, such as, whole grains and feed. It usually will have some form of plastic or UHMW flights connected to metal attachments on a single strand of chain. The plastic flights scrape the housing bottom and friction along the shear plain of material moves the product above the top of the flights. The returning flights will usually be riding on a UHMW lined return rail that may be a single center rail or dual side rails.
These units will frequently operate at up to 200 Feet Per Minute chain speed, which makes then unsuitable for moderately abrasive or abrasive materials.

Heavy Duty flat bottom drags operate at a much lower speed (usually 100FPM, or less) and much heavier components. These units may have dual strands of heavy chain with flights connected between them. The carrying strands of chain may ride on support rails, just like return strands. These units typically have a thick Abrasion Resistant (A-R) steel lining and are well suited to abrasive materials such as, Ashes, Coal, Cement, Clinker, Fly Ash and so on. Because of the heavier construction standards, these units are also easily adapted to Drag Feeder application.

Bend Sections are available for Round Bottom and Flat Bottom conveyors. Bend Sections
